Build Huge Calf Muscles

Building massive calf muscles presents quite a challenge, as daily walking naturally toughens calf muscles. It’s hard to work a muscle that’s already constantly worked.  Remember that the longer the calf muscle, the larger its volume, and the more intensity that’s required to the approach in order to get the same results.

Compensating for these unique challenges presented by the calf muscle does not mean it’s impossible to build massive calf muscles. Nor does it mean that you should train harder. You will be required to set up a structured regiment of lifting sets, beginning with a starting weight and number of reps you ca easily handle. You will gradually build up from there as your endurance improves, along with your muscle tone.

There are specific exercises geared towards developing massive calf muscles but you must allow for rest between sets in order for muscles to develop properly. Another tip to remember when doing calf-specific exercises; these should all be done in sets of five (ideally) and in your bare feet.

The “Standing Calf Raise” is a calf-specific exercise geared towards created those well toned larger calf muscles. This exercise deals with pulling your weight up, using the assistance of your calf muscles, and holding the stretch. This should be repeated several times before resting. Basic toning and calf muscle development will happen as a result of this exercise and can be done several times a week. It’s a great exercise as it can be done anywhere.

The “Donkey Stretch” is a more advanced calf exercise that places extra resistance on the calves. This should only be done after the more basic exercises (like the one above) can be done with more ease.  This exercise does involve the help of a partner so while this can still be done at home (as little equipment is needed), you will need assistance.

Once you can comfortably do both of these exercises, try to avoid doing these simultaneously. Doing this will cause unnecessary strain and you may lose momentum in your quest to develop massive calf muscles. Incorporate these exercises as part of your total leg workout so that you can easily switch from one to another.  You can easily incorporate these into a routine for your back, giving you a break from the part of the body you’re focusing on.  These exercises will have you well on your way to developing massive calf muscles.
