Five Muscle Building Supplements

The muscle building supplement industry has really skyrocketed in the past few years and it’s no big surprise that the market is absolutely saturated with products that promise to be the “most effective” or give you “results in a week.” Most of the supplements on the market aren’t new but rather rebranded products containing the same active ingredients that most of the other supplements contain. There are some exceptions, however, and these are the supplements that the serious trainers incorporate into their diet and fitness routine regularly.

1. Whey protein is very popular among serious bodybuilders and with good reason. It’s a biological source protein that can be consumed post workout due to its rapid uptake. This provides the body with instant amino acids when it needs them most, during the recovery period. Whey protein can be purchased as either whey concentrated or whey isolate. Whey isolate is more refined, which means it has more protein and less carbs and fat.

2. Another top supplement among bodybuilders is creatine monohydrate. This happens to be one of the most studied and used bodybuilding supplements ever created. This supplement has shown that it can increase physical performance through its role as an energy replenisher. This allows for greater energy for muscle contractions so the muscle can be pushed harder and longer.

3. Weight gainer is also an effective supplement if the product is quality. Many weight-gaining formulas on the market are filled with low-quality proteins, sugars, and lack the health dietary fats needed to truly be effective. Do your research before purchasing. A quality weight gainer will have a quality mix of proteins like whey and casein.

4. Maltodextrin is another top muscle building supplement as it’s a complex carbohydrate that’s actually absorbed very quickly. This supplement is useful for those who find it difficult to gain weight and is perfect for post workout. This one is also used during the workout to maintain high levels of energy.

5. Protein bars are a little expensive but their portability makes them a great muscle building supplements. Often times those serious about building muscle find themselves in jobs where they have to go several hours without eating. These can make the perfect quick meal when paired with fruit and nuts. These are also ideal for a post workout snack as they’re often filled with carbs that can help replenish those energy stores as quickly as possible.
