Aerobics are an important part of bodybuilding. Many people do them to help stay in shape, but did you know they can actually help with muscle growth?

Aerobics are often the source of cardiovascular activity for many people. They provide many different exercises all in one routine, each designed to target a different muscle group. Once these muscle groups are worked the muscle fibers will begin to break down. This is the first step in the process that will result in recovery.

Aerobic exercise comes in many forms. You can choose to incorporate an entire routine into your workouts which will work the various muscle groups. You can even vary them from time to time in order to introduce some variety into the mix.

Aerobic exercise can also include various cardiovascular routines. Time on the treadmill or stationary exercise bicycle can serve as aerobic exercise. Walking is another great exercise that will get you moving while experiencing nature and the great outdoors. If you don’t like a stationary bike, consider purchasing one that will take you through your neighborhood on your favorite bicycle trail.

Running is another great aerobic exercise. While this is a bit harder on your joints, it does get your heart rate up and keep it there while strengthening muscle fibers. It will definitely keep you in shape.

There are various other types of machines that can provide the cardio you desire. An elliptical machine is among them. Here you can get your much needed cardio on something that won’t place undue stress on your joints.

The key to aerobic exercise is consistency. If you want to truly begin building your muscles and remain in shape, you need to conduct your aerobic exercise for 30 to 45 minutes a day. This is what will burn off those unwanted calories while making your heart stronger and help condition your muscles for the strength training portion of your workout routine.

Aerobic exercises should ideally be performed early in the morning. This is because your body doesn’t have any additional calories to burn at that time and you will get better results. If possible, do it when you first get up in the morning. While this may be difficult to adhere to, you will see a positive result in the increase of metabolism. This increase will continue helping you throughout the day by providing you with more energy and making your other exercises easier. Adhere to it just as you would a strict well balanced diet and the results will be staggering.
