Muscle Definition Bodyweight Exercises

Bodyweight exercises are exercises that are done using just the body. Unlike most muscle building exercises, bodyweight exercises do not make use of free weights as the exerciser's weight is leveraged for resistance. Although bodyweight exercises are great for full body fitness and to build strength, a lot of experts believe that these exercises are too weak and no real muscle definition can be obtained from just bodyweight exercises. However, there are professionals who have trained using just bodyweight exercises and have gained amazing muscle definition in the process. Bodyweight exercises are not just about going through the motions, it is how you do these exercises that would determine if you gain an impressive set of muscles or not.

When most people hear of bodyweight exercises, they think only of exercises like pull-ups, sit-ups and push-ups. And those are the basics of bodyweight exercises, but there is much more to bodyweight exercises than those basics. Those who have been training with bodyweight exercises have the ability to perform high reps. However, improving muscle definition with bodyweight exercises is not about performing 100 sit-ups; that will build up your endurance and increase your stamina, sure. But in order to get really improve your muscle definition, you need a routine that will constantly challenge your muscles and push them to grow.

Focusing on one form of bodyweight exercise, such as push-ups and performing numerous reps is not the way to go. The best way to work on your muscles and total fitness and muscle definition is to combine a series of exercises and do a few reps on each. Focus on a bunch of exercises that target different muscles. For instance, you do a few push-ups and then go on to a few sit-ups, then bodyweight rows and keep repeating that until you are tired. Then rest.

You can create your own workout of bodyweight exercises to fit your individual need. A good mix of pushing exercises - such as one-arm pushups, Hindu pushups and dips - and pulling exercises like inverted row and pull-ups will help improve muscle definition by pulling and stretching different muscles in the body.

Free weights have their advantages and cannot be ruled out especially when you want to pack on the mass in your muscles. They are particularly beneficial because they allow you to target a specific muscle and use the amount of weights you want to use on that muscle. This helps the muscles look really big. But to get that perfect body sculpture and definition, bodyweight training is the way to go. Besides, you do not need access to a gym or any kind of equipment. It is free and readily accessible wherever you find yourself.

What you need to do when using bodyweight exercises to train is to create a workout routine and be consistent. Because there are so many variations to bodyweight exercises, you do not have to get bored with your routine. You can continuously spice it up a bit to make it harder and more challenging. Try each exercise from different angles and watch your muscles improve in definition.
