The Importance of a Good Warm-up
Author: Mark Sutro
The warm-up is widely viewed as a simple measure to help you prevent injury during exercise. It warms up your muscles by increasing the movement of blood through those tissues which enhances the suppleness of the muscles. Because of the increased blood flow, you’ve got more oxygen and more nutrients flowing to the muscles. It prepares your heart for the increase in activity, and it prepares you mentally for what you are about to do. The warm-up is firmly established as a key to exercising safely and effectively.
