Heart Rate Training
Author: Mark Sutro
In the early 1980’s, sports scientists discovered that training with the knowledge of how fast our heart was beating while we were exercising could have a significant impact on the effectiveness of our training sessions. Over the past 25 years, this discovery has radically changed the methodology used to drive progressive cardiovascular training… Training at different heart rates trains the body in different ways (promotes different physiological adaptations). This means that when you are Strolling, Cruising and Striding, your body is adapting to the exercise in different ways. Everyone’s physiology is different, and everyone has specific heart rate training zones that work best for them.
Heart Rate Recovery is defined as how quickly your heart rate comes down after an interval which raises your heart rate. In this program we will be tracking your one minute heart rate recovery (how many beats your heart rate comes down in one minute).
