You Don't Need A Gym To Work Out At Home

Many people who can’t afford their gym membership end up giving up on their workouts all together. It is not because they no longer feel that they have time for their workouts, and it is not because they are uncomfortable working out in their own homes. The reason that most people quit working out all together when they can’t afford the gym is because they do not have any exercise equipment. After all, isn’t that the reason that they joined the gym in the first place? Fortunately, it is possible to work out at home without having to purchase your own equipment. In fact, you can get a gym quality workout with almost no equipment at all.

Chances are most people already have most of the fitness resources that they need to get a great and stimulating workout from the comfort of their own home. Most of the exercises that are executed on large, cumbersome pieces of exercise equipment at the gym can be replicated without any workout equipment at all. For example, a flexibility workout allows the participant to engage in a challenging and satisfying workout without the use of any exercise equipment. The exercises in the flexibility workout are familiar to most people and are easily learned if not.

While there are numerous workouts which can be performed without any exercise equipment, those who are serious about maintaining their fitness levels while remaining at home will be happy to find that the purchase of a single piece of exercise equipment can dramatically increase the amount of exercises that can be performed. The question of what to buy can be a tough one, so this article will attempt to identify the most versatile and useful pieces of exercise equipment for your home.

If you are only going to purchase one piece of exercise equipment for your home or office, your best bet is to purchase a set of dumbbells. Dumbbell workouts allow nearly every single gym exercise to be replicated in virtually any setting. Additionally, since each arm controls its own dumbbell, weight is always evenly distributed and each body part receives the same amount of resistance throughout the workout. Since the intensity of a dumbbell workout depends on the amount of resistance, or weight of the dumbbells, participants in dumbbell workouts should purchase weights which are suitable to their size and strength levels.

If you are going to purchase more than one piece of equipment, an exercise band is a great buy as well. These elastic, rope-like tools provide excellent resistance without limiting movement. This allows a workout participant to use naturally flowing motions throughout their exercise routine. The best part is that the exercise bands typically weigh less than a pound – but can supply many pounds of resistance.
