Five Pitfalls of Bodybuilding Diets

There are definitely some reasons as to why you should research before you start a high protein muscle building diet. Be sure that you are making confident that this bodybuilding diet fits your workout and lifestyle and is not going to hurt your health. Too much protein can be dangerous, so know what you are getting yourself into and the issues that it potentially can cause. Listed below are a few pitfalls to muscle building diets.

1. It can harm your kidneys. Too much protein can be bad for your kidneys. The kidneys handle breaking down the chemicals in protein, and too much can put a strain on them. Be sure that you are mindful of how much protein is entering your body daily.

2. It can cause calcium loss. Too much protein can be bad for your bones. When protein is increased to a certain level, calcium is lost in your urine quicker than normal. So, if you are doing a muscle building diet, you need to be sure that you are supplementing extra calcium into your diet.

3. It can restrict healthful foods. A high protein diet may actually starve your body of nutrients that it needs. This may prevent you from getting the vitamins and minerals that you need to function. Be sure that you are getting everything that you need in your body to function properly.

4. Muscle building diets may fool you. When you eat more protein then your body needs, it releases ketones into the blood stream. This tricks you into feeling like you aren’t hungry and makes you feel nauseous. If you are suffering from ketosis, you may not be able to keep food down, or even want to eat at all.

5. Muscle building diets may increase cholesterol. One of the biggest factors with a muscle building diet is that it may increase cholesterol. Because dieters aren’t eating the high fiber high carbohydrate foods, they have nothing to help lower cholesterol levels.

Be sure that if you are going to try a muscle building diet, you are very careful with what you are doing. You don’t want to harm your body just to lose a few pounds or build more muscle, it is not worth it.
