Best Pregnant Workout Plans

Women who love working out and have become pregnant, or those women who have heard the benefits of exercise on the baby, sometimes have a tough time finding out and deciding on which workout plans to follow and which ones to avoid during their pregnancy. This is of course a valid concern, as some exercises are difficult and even dangerous for the baby and consequently the mother of the baby. There are a few different things you can do and avoid doing as far as workout plans go to help you be safe and healthy.

Workouts for Pregnant Women

DO walk, jog (with your doctor’s permission), and participate in light stretching in yoga-like poses. Other safe exercises include water exercising and low-impact activities like light stationery biking (moving bikes are too dangerous). These workout plans can safely raise the heart rate and help you increase your aerobic capacity without endangering your child, but it is of course very important to get the approval of your doctor before you begin any workout plans, especially while pregnant. This is important because if you have any small complication or weren’t in good health at the beginning of your pregnancy, chances are you may be limited in what you can do for exercise.

DON’T participate in activities that put excessive or high impact strain on the body. This includes severe stretching and workout plans like Pilates, which can cause strain in the abdominal muscles. Exercises for the abs can be especially dangerous for the woman and baby alike, so it is generally recommended to stay away from them. Consequently, all strength training, muscle building, body building, etc, is to be forgotten while pregnant so that no undue strain is put to the muscles surrounding the baby. Also any workout plans that put excessive squeezing motions on the abdomen, like Ab Lounges, yoga, even some spinning classes (talk with your doctor to make sure) can be harmful or dangerous, so it’s important to shy away from them. Running is one of those borderline workout plans that depend a lot on your general health before becoming pregnant and how well the baby seems to stand it.
