If you are trying to lose
weight and get fit, make fitness fun. You can do so by making it a family
adventure. Each day of the week have one family member choose what you will do
to get exercising.
You and your
spouse/significant other and children need to exercise. Studies have shown that
children are spending way too much time playing video games, watching TV and
playing on the computer. This sedentary lifestyle is going to cut their lives
shorter than ours. This is very devastating news. You need to start healthy
habits with your children now so that they will carry them into their adulthood.
Challenge your children to a
game of tennis. When you and the first child play a game of tennis, the winner
will challenge the next child. There are usually at least two courts at a park
or school so two others or four others can also be playing on the other tennis
court. If you live close enough by the area you will be playing tennis, ride
your bikes to your destination.
Another idea to make fitness
fun is to play catch using a ball with your spouse/significant other and/or
children in the backyard. You can play the game of monkey in the middle for even
more fun.
Make fitness fun when you
take a ball to the beach and play in the water. Make swimming challenges by
racing each other. Dive under the water getting water toys. Go tubing if you
have a boat or rent a boat. Hanging onto the tube is a good way to strengthen
your arm muscles. If you have never gone tubing, you will find that your arms
will be sore the following day.
Another way to make fitness
fun is to play 9 holes of golf. Do not rent a golf cart when you go golfing.
Enjoy the walk in the sunshine as well as the conversation of the group of
people who are also playing.
Play games in the backyard
with water balloons. You can play toss the water balloon to each other and see
who it breaks by. Have fun getting wet especially on sizzling hot days. You can
also place the balloon between your legs and try to race your opponent.
Make fitness fun by
challenging each other on mazes at the local park. Climb the toys and race to
the finish line over by the swing set.
There are so many ways you
can make fitness fun. Just think of things you like to do and get moving!
