The Basics of Core Training

There are many benefits of core training. Did you know that fit abs will actually decrease your chances of experiencing back pain? The right fitness program will help you obtain better abdominal muscles while actually providing many other health advantages.

It’s all about functionality. The right workout can help you when conducting various daily activities. These are the simple tasks that can range anywhere from picking up various items to doing house work. The right fitness program will not only help you look good, but will also enable you to function more easily. You will build the stamina and endurance needed to perform a wide range of tasks with minimal effort.

There are several components that comprise core strength. One is the transverse abdominal muscle. This is where much of the core strength is located. Because of this, you want to incorporate exercises into your fitness program that will aid in acquiring this type of strength.

One great exercise for this can be accomplished by lying on your back with your knees bent. Make sure your feet are planted firmly on the ground. Arch your lower back so that it is positioned slightly off the ground. Place two fingers approximately two inches below your belly button. This is where the transverse abdominal muscle actually runs. Next, exhale, drawing your lower abs in toward your spine. You will also flatten your lower back to the ground. Hold this position for several seconds and repeat the entire process a number of times.

When doing this exercise, keep in mind your lower abs should flatten before the upper ones. Breathe throughout the duration of the exercise and relax the rest of your body.

There are many other ab exercises that can be performed as a regular part of your daily fitness routine. Sit ups and crunches are among them. You can even use an exercise ball for these exercises which will serve to further strengthen your abdominal muscles by providing more resistance. If you are just beginning such a fitness workout, you might want to start without the ball and gradually work your way into using it. Keep in mind that a stronger core will lead to stronger abs all around. This will also make the tasks you perform on a daily basis much easier. Core training is the first step to a fit body and should be a regular part of your workout.
