If you are thinking of joining the military, you may be concerned with fat loss and how you will go about getting into shape. If you have never followed a strict fitness program before, you will need to begin thinking about this now. People who are in the military are in great shape due to the rigorous workouts they do on a regular basis. You can prepare early by following a few simple workout tips.

Fat loss will occur when two goals are met. First a healthy diet must be adhered to in order to receive the right nutrients on a daily basis. This means changing the way you eat entirely, not just going on a crash diet to lose weight. You want to make your fat loss permanent and a healthy diet will allow you to do just that.

Exercise is the second component of a successful fitness program. Most people who are in the military conduct the cardiovascular part of their workouts outdoors. Running is a popular exercise of choice. You can begin this now by finding a track to run on or simply running around your neighborhood. When it rains you can find an indoor track so you won’t have to interrupt your cardio workouts. It is recommended that you run five to six days a week for 45 minutes a day. This will give you the maximum cardio workout and really begin burning those calories and shedding the unwanted pounds.

Strength training will also help you to build muscle. You will need this muscle when you join the military. Your strength training will consist of weight training and cable exercises. These will boost your metabolism the most. Free weights can either be purchased for use at home or you can choose to join a gym. There are plenty of gyms that are economical to join, some that don’t even require you to sign an annual contract.

Fat loss for the military is important. The more in shape you are when you join the easier the entire process will be over time. Consistency is the key. If you remain faithful to your fitness plan you will also have an easier time when you have to decide whether or not to reenlist. You will also be more prepared for the job  you will perform while in the military and will be healthier overall. Start now and you will see what a big difference it really will make in the long run and throughout your whole military career.
