Losing weight quickly can be dangerous. Just look at the number of people who have tried it and met with very negative results. Extreme fat loss is unhealthy for many reasons.

Crash Diet

Many people try crash diets or even complete fasting when they want to lose weight. Crash diets aren't successful because they usually involve a specific diet, usually one that is not altogether healthy, that is utilized throughout the duration of the actual weight loss. Once the weight is gone, the person on the diet returns to the eating habits of before and often times gains back more weight than what was lost.

Starving the body is not the way to shed those pounds either and can, in fact have an adverse effect. When you don't eat for a long time, then eat even the smallest of meals, the body stores it as fat because it has nothing to go on. It hasn't received anything in a while and needs that fat to function. This is especially important for those who exercise. When you exercise your body needs food. Muscles must be fed properly in order to grow. Instead of a crash diet or fasting, simply begin eating healthy.

Healthy Diet

A good diet is one that results in a complete lifestyle change. Here the proper nutrients are consumed on a daily basis. Smaller meals are good. You want to consume several smaller ones each day in place of three large meals. Six to eight is a good number. Cut down on the amount you eat but don't stop altogether. Make sure you get the right nutrients and you won't starve the body of what it needs to remain healthy and functional.

Many people have also tried forms of exercise that have proven dangerous and even fatal. You've probably heard of athletes who dress in extremely warm sweat suits and then go run indoors. This is extremely dangerous because the body is losing a lot of water through sweat. Even running outdoors is dangerous in this type of situation if the body has no way to breathe. Here the body would be depleted of water and a lot of heat would be retained. This causes the body temperature to rise to dangerous heights and the body is simply not meant to function this way.

Gradual Fat Loss

Also, too much exercise can be bad for you. Extreme fat loss is unhealthy because it often comes at a price. This usually entails losing weight quickly because of too much exercise and insufficient nutrition. Overusing muscles will injure them and they won't grow properly. Also is the body is starving for nutrients, the unwanted calories will not be burned. The key is to stick to a diet that really works and exercise regimen that will allow you to lose weight gradually over time. This is natural for the body and a lot healthier than dong it the radical way.
